Sweet additions Apac. Now I know what I should attempt with that very same boat. A little hesitant to do so since my last endeavor with blue krylon came up with some cracking on some PTE Humvees. The red one turned out perfect though.

The Cobra Eel Immortal. This was my contest entry. Unfortunately, I don't think I saved the text of the profile, so no fleshed out story for you. I can tell you that they're the end product of a collaboration between CGI scientists and the eels, in an endeavor to shore up Cobra's naval capabilities, hence the adoption of the "Immortal" as part of their name.

They don't need air tanks because the suit has an aparatus to filter air out of the water that comes in through intakes on the helmet and the device, itself. Think something along the lines of a fish's gills. This allows them greater mobility, due to the decreased weight.

They usually recruit from within cobra naval divisions, as well as naval malcontents from around the world. They're cobra's answer to the Navy Seals.

How could I forget to post this handsome fella:

Here's another WIP, Guillotine back when he was an Eel:

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f95/CIWE2006/eg.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f95/CIWE2006/eg2.jpg

Had to trim the neck down on guillotine as the electric eel v2 body is rather small as compared to guillotine....with that being said, I still have to dremmel out the helmet....which doesn't apear as though it's going to fit. Oh well, I'll make it work somehow.

I still have to arm him properly...but it's pretty difficult to find Eel v1 gear without the Eel itself.

Other than the fact that his head is a bit too big for the body, im pleased with it so far :D

Looks hella cool.

If worse comes to worse with the helmet...maybe if you split it in the back it would fit.

I was going to do that...but instead I decided to just use the helmet that comes with Guillotine. Kinda cool looking...makes him look like a Squad Leader rather than just your basic troop. Still need to find fins for him...and a backpack...but for now, I'm calling this sucker done!

Before I get started, I want to thank two people for making this possible.

First, thanks go to Clone Trooper for planting this idea in my head. It was he who first mentioned the idea of expanding the plague troopers, so I'm happy to have been able to run with the idea.

Secondly, a HUGE thanks goes to SingSingJohnny. It's because of him that I now have these figures, and needless to say, I friggin' love them! Thank you!!!

--------------------------

Now, on to the fun! I won't bother posting pics of the original 3, as everyone has seen them. There will be a photo at the end that has them in it anyways.

The first two figures that joined my Plague ranks were:

Gravedigger: Plague Trooper - Alley Viper Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gravedigger01.jpg

Gravedigger – Alley Viper
Prior to joining the Alley Vipers Grave Digger was well a grave digger. He buried the dead of Cobra Island. Not overly interesting by any means he often is found in his off duty hours at grave sites talking to headstones. He holds lengthy discussions with the dead, and claims they talk to him. Most would simply write that off as nonsense, but his uncanny ability to know when to move, or where to move could be information from beyond the grave. It’s hard to dispute a man who says to you carry a knife before the mission begins, and that very knife saves your life.

and

Gash: Plague Trooper - Frag Viper Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gash01.jpg

Gash – Frag Viper
Gash actually used to be a jai alai player in his younger days he was arrested and booted from the sport for knifing an official for a bad call, during the game. After his release from prison he immediately joined Cobra where his natural skills propelled him up the ranks of the Frag Vipers. Gash is actually one of the few Plague members that actively sought out his position on the team. Oddly Guillotine had planned on another man for the Frag Viper slot on the Plague, but after Gash challenged that man to one on one combat for the position and killed him, how could Guillotine say no?

I know proudly present....the latest additions and the finale of my Plague team! I will have to spread these pics out over 2 posts, so please be patient while pictures are loading!

Glacier: Plague Trooper - Snow Serpent Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/glacier01.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/glacier02.jpg

Glacier – Snow Serpent
Glacier stood out far beyond any Snow Serpent past or present. On one particular mission his unit was left behind after Cobra retreated from the battlefield. Three years later Guillotine would encounter the former Snow Serpent on yet another Arctic campaign. It seems Joe green shirts had Guillotine’s unit pinned down in a crossfire, from out of nowhere Glacier showed up, and savagely turned the tide by gruesomely dispatching the green shirts. When questioned about how he had survived so long and where his unit was, his answer was just as grizzly. It seems he had deemed them to weak to survive, so one their first night; he killed them all, using all their gear to survive. Eventually he even ate them.

Gearbox: Plague Trooper - Track Viper Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gearbox01.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gearbox02.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gearbox03.jpg

Gearbox – Track Viper
Gearbox is a legend in the Track Viper corp. He allegedly pulled the engine out of a Night Raven and modified it to fit in a HISS mk II tank. That alone should make him stand out, but he also allegedly used said HISS tank to blow past the Cobra High Brass during one of their parades on Cobra Island. The tank was found hours later, the engine completely fused. They suspected it was Gearbox, but now one could ever prove he did it. Since joining The Plague he has become something of the team practical joker which from time to time has caused him some trouble among a group of soldiers who pride themselves on their seriousness.

Ghost: Plague Trooper - Night Viper Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/ghost01.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/ghost02.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/ghost03.jpg

Ghost – Night Viper
A man of little words, he speaks only when necessary. An expert shot, there is no weapon his is not capable of handling. Ghost is something of a mystery, he clearly has had some ninja training, and in battle both Slice and Storm Shadow have speculated that his style seems so familiar, yet neither can quite place from where. For a time it was believed he might be the world famous Firefly, but that was recently dispelled. One thing is clear about Ghost what ever his past, what ever his mystery we’ll only know about it when he’s good and ready to talk about it.

Glacier was an AWESOME name for a Snow Serpent! Wish I thought of it before I settled on Grizzly. Oh well.

Grime: Plague Trooper - Techno Viper Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/grime01.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/grime02.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/grime03.jpg

Grime – Techno Viper
Grime is a complainer. There is no one who knows engineering better than Grime that for sure, he can rebuild a bridge, fortify a location, improvise explosives, better than any Techno Viper out there, but you will get a steady stream of complaints the entire time. “It can’t be done, this is stupid, why are we doing this, it’s too hot, it’s too cold, the wire isn’t long enough….” In the end he gets the job done, which is exactly what Guillotine wanted for this position on the team. So he can complain all he wants just as long as he keeps doing the job, if it gets to be too much Guillotine will simply smack him around.

and finally

Gasoline: Plague Trooper - Incinerator Class
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gasoline01.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gasoline02.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y242/mr_erickg/gasoline03.jpg

Gasoline – Incinerator
Gasoline’s personal file reads like something from ones nightmare. He’s logged nearly as much time in therapy as he has on the battlefield. Not to help him deal with his problem, but to make it worse. Gasoline wants everything to burn. If you looked up the term pyromaniac it would say see Gasoline. With burns on nearly twenty percent of his body, mostly self inflicted, he really enjoys spraying flames on anything or anyone; he was booted from the Incinerator corps for setting his commanding officer on fire, before joining the Plague. The man seemingly has no fear of fire, and welcomes burns as one would badges of honor. He does have a deep fear of Guillotine which seems to keep him in some form of order.

Here is a group shot of the team......FEAR THEM!

I went a little nuts on adding some flair to these guys I was worried Glacier being a cannibal was going too far.

Since the Plague is supposed to be Cobra's answer to the original 13 I wanted Ghost to be their version of Snake Eyes.

Like wise Grime while differant was modeled after Breaker, I wanted him to have an odd personnality trait like Breakers bubble blowing.

Gearbox is a blatent homage (or likely rip off) from Clutch evil Clutch if you will, the story of the modified HISS is stolen from a movie called The Hollywood Knights one of my favorite movies about a car group in 1965, surrounding the events of the last night that their hangout Tubbies Drive In (and Smitty's Speed Shop next door) will be open.

Grave Digger is a semi homage to medium John Edwards.

Gasoline is well he fell outta the recesses of my black mind. I wanted a complete lunatic. I think I hit that mark.

Gash totally made up in the last minute. I wanted a super ambitous trooper some one who could be a second in command.

Glad you like them.

Didn't come out as great as I envisioned, since the color I wanted to use had dried out, so I had to use the metallic silver, which was a little thick. I actually don't know much about these Argen 7. Which character is that? He looks really cool.

Basically they were a second series of figues made in Argentina that were exclusive figures and even cardartwork that we never got in the states. The infamous Cobra Mortal was a part of this wave and a variant White Mortal was a part of this wave and is supposed to be the rarest Joe figure ever.

Shimik is the figure being represented here. His name translated into "Cat Eyes" I believe and he is a recon scout who watched over Cobra similar to SneakPeak. The original figure was a Rock n' Roll body painted black with a Grunt/Grandslam head with skin coloring black and he had a Breaker helmet, Stalker gun and a small backpack that was also part of the first series of our figures.

The figure parts used are Anti Venom Roadblock, Big Ben and Range Viper. The original figure never had the shin and knee guards but I threw them in to spice up the figure. Big Bears backpack Dusty's machine gun and an AP Mutt Helmet, though the original black one would have done well (though I don't have one)

BASICALLY this is the road that many people who got the 2006 con set were hoping for the Mortal, not a repro but an update.

Ultra Magnus
01-26-2007, 03:54 PM
Ah. Yeah, Mr. Mortal is quite silly-looking, but I guess if you're bad enough to be a named cobra, you can pretty much dress however you want. Shimik, on the other hand, actually looks like a figure that a collector might desire.

Looking at the original Shimik (http://www.yojoe.com/international/argentina/figures/shimik/shimik_big.shtml), does anyone else think that he looks familiar (http://searchviews.com/archives/george_jefferson.jpg)? ;) All in all, a really good update.

The figure, itself, is a headswap of an old PPCG and a Crimson Shadow Guard, so the only paint is on the helmet. The helmet's face and the little thingy above it are painted with Testors Acryl Silver Gloss (921575) and the eye slit and mouth are painted with Tsetors Acryl Gloss Black (sadly, the number's obscured, but pretty much, any black will do, I'd say).

The CSG captain's just an LBC, involving the pp's head and the csg's body.

Testor are good and easily found. I have switched to Games Workshop line as they bond much better and have a very wide range of colors. Another paint line has been launched by Privateer Press called P3. Just bought some and haven't had the chance to use them yet, but they do come highly recommended.

Thanks guys, I'm glad ya likes 'em! I've got a few regular customs I gotta get uploaded that I think you might like, including a custom Hiss, a short range Cobra jet and some figures like Zandar (DDP), Major Bludd (cerominial) and a Voltar in more respectable colours.

Here are two of my most recent customs.

Budo was a figure I found at a car boot sale with no accessories, and since I am such a samurai junkie, I decided it was time for Budo to get armoured up.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4607_r1.jpg

The head, torso and arms are Budo's, the legs are from Dr Mindbender v3, The helmet is a drastically converted Laser Vipers, the shoulderpads are from Nunchuk v3's belt, the knee pads are from the Lord of the Rings Legolas Minimate's cloak/shoulderpads, as is the bow. The sword is Snake Eyes', and the short sword is also from the L.O.T.R minimates.

I am a big fan of Snow Serpents, and originally designed this guy as a commanding officer. I then decided he was better as a heavy machine gunner.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4609_r1.jpg

The torso, arms, waist and legs are from Frostbite v1. The head is a Laser Vipers. The helmet is a dremeled out Slipstream head.

Thanks dudes, I'm glad ya likes 'em! I might rustle up a few more minimate customs and put 'em up as a competition prize sometime in the future.

Here are a few more customs I have done.

I found a Junkyard dog in a bag of random stuff at a car boot, so I rustled up a Mutt to go with him.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4610_r1.jpg

I used the body from Sure Fire, with the head from Major Altitude v1. The left forearm was replaced by the arm of a Corps figure. The helmet was also Sure Fire's. The machine gun was Lowlight v5s'.

I did not have a Flint figure, so I decided it was time to make one. This is 'Field Command Flint', hopefully a little more rugged looking, without the jaunty beret.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4611_r1.jpg

The torso and arms were Law v2s', the head was Flint v5s', the legs were from Cross Fire. He seems to me to slightly resemble Bruce Campbell. Or maybe that's just wishfull thinking on my part. "Groovy."

As with Flint, I did not have a Firefly figure, and, as Firefly is quite a badass, I thought I should make one.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4612_r1.jpg

The head is Laser Vipers', The torso and arms were from Dial Tone v3, The legs from Dusty v5's. The backpack was from Lowlight v5's. The Detonator in front of the figure was in a bag of random accessories from a car boot. Funnily enough, it clips onto the backpack perfectly! What are the chances?

Rock 'n' Roll was in the same boat as the previous two. I wasn't really digging Rock 'n' Roll v2, so I grabbed the head and legs, and stuck Cross Fire's torso and arms in there.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4613_r1.jpg

My personal favourite of this bunch, Voltar. I never liked the figure as a kid, but when I read the Marvel comics, I realised he must be badass to be high up in Destro's personal army, so I decided a revamp was in order.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4614_r1.jpg

The head is, of course, Voltars. The rest of the body is Zap v2s'. The gun is from a Gundam Wing Leo.

When I reworked Budo, I decided he needed an arch-enemy on the Cobra team. Originally, my design involved face paint and armour, in the vein of a kabuki actor. I then decided to go the more down-to-earth route of a tattoo'ed yakuza member. I was still intending to make the samurai armour, but decided against it, feeling the character would seem more threatening without it. So here he is, my new Cobra villain, 'Tsuba'.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4615_r1.jpg

Here are two more images, showing his tattoos.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4617_r1.jpg

This second image is the tattoo on his back, which includes a semi nude lady. Just warning ya...

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4616_r1.jpg

His head and torso were from the funskool Zartan, the legs were from Nunchuk, the arms are from an unidentified figure. I dremeled down the back to match his front, and then began the painstaking process of inking him up.

I imagined his filecard to read something like this:

Code Name:
TSUBA

File Name: Gendo Mifune

Once a member of the Arashikage clan, the same one Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes trained at, Tsuba was banished for arrogance and inpatience. Not content with the highly desired position of sword master Onihashi's apprentice, Tsuba attempted a violent take over of the clan. Defeated, he became a wanderer, engaging in illegal street and pit fights for money. Coming to the attention of the Yakuza, he was hired as extra muscle. The same desire for wealth and power overwhelmed him again, but this time he was victorious, and is now a force to be reconed with in Japan's underworld of Crime.

"Tsuba is bold, rash and impulsive. Fueled by his desire to win at all costs, he is a dangerous enemy, who is too often under-estimated. But this same impulsive nature is also his greatest weakness..."

I couldn't agree more. The tattoo work on that figure is pure genius. I at first was like "wait a minute...that looks REAL"....excellent work, SW. You're talent is something to be applauded!

As for Wyse's APC...meh, it sucks. Throw it out. :shifty

You know I'm kidding. I friggin' love it. Whenever I see it, I picture that fatal scene where Serpentor is taken down with an arrow....

I picture Dr. Mindbender and a few B.A.T.s quickly recovering Serpentor's corpse, and putting the "deep freeze" on him until he can be resurrected.

As always, excellent work, Gentlemen! I'll forward you my mailing address later so you can hurry and send them to me :D

Sure thing, man! I was trying to get the Cobra element in there somewhere, and thought a big tat would do the trick! I'll take a photo first thing in the morning, if that's cool? My workshop is down the end of the garden, and I have watched too many horror movies recently...

Thanks Dean4125! It didn't take that long really, most of one afternoon. I kinda lost track of time doing it. I did a bit or research beforehand, so I kinda had a reasonable idea of what I was going to do. Unfortunately, my neighbour decided to visit at that moment, and was rather confused to see me printing pictures of shirtless Japanese guys...it took a lot of explaining...

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4618_r1.jpg

Sorry Apester (you don't mind me calling you Apester, do ya?), no more figures ready just yet, I've got a Major Bludd in the works. Would you settle for some vehicles instead?

I am a big Dreadnok fan, and since I didn't have a Thunder Machine, I decided my only course of action was to convert something...

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4619_r1.jpg

It was made from the Desert Striker, with the missile pylon from the Warthog attached. I hated the fact there was no glass or shielding in the front, so I jammet some aluminuim mesh in there, hopefully giving it a rougher Dreadnokish feel. The exposed engine part on the hood and the exhausts under the doors were parts of Zoids.

Here is a picture of the driver, 'Shrapnel'. I figured he was a rally driver, who got into a rather nasty accident racing Clutch back in the old days. He has a bit of beef about it.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4620_r1.jpg

The torso and legs are from Roadblock v5, the arms are from tha funskool Zartan, and the head is a Corps figure, visciously dremeled. I dunno if it shows up in the picture, but his hair and beard are flocked, like the Masters of the Universe Moss Man figure.

I have a bit of a lack of Cobra vehicles, so I repainted the G.I.Joe Raider in Cobra colours.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4627.jpg

I made a driver for it as well...

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4628_r1.jpg

His helmet and torso are from Scoop, the head is from the Ice Viper that came with the Wolf, and the arms and legs are from Destro v2.

Here is a snowmobile for my Snow Serpents.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4626.jpg

The main chassis is from an unrecognised Palitoy Action Force vehicle, asd are the front forks, the wheels are from the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, the front mounted guns and rear facing Gatling gun are from Zoids.

The only Hiss I had was the Strike Hiss, which just didn't feel Cobra enough for me, so I gutted it and gave it a reworking.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4621.jpg

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4623_r1.jpg

I felt that there was a lot of wasted space inside it, so I cut out part of the main shell, to allow access inside. I figured that it would make more sense to have the gunner inside, as opposed to being perched on top behind the gun, so I made a console for him inside the main tank body.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4622.jpg

The front is fixed, the strike mechanism has been removed. The guns on the front are from a Jedi Starfighter and the chain gun is from the Vulcan Raven Metal Gear Solid figure. The glass in the front is from Ecto-1.

My Cobra air forces were rather lacking, and I felt my Wild Weasel figure deserved something a little more devastating than a F.A.N.G 'copter, so I rustled up this...

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4624.jpg

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/slipperyweasel/146_4625.jpg

The main body is a Jedi Starfighter, with the front section of Sebulba's Pod Racer as the rear/engine section. The extra bits on the nose and wings are from Zoids.

Anyway, as I was saying, I would be more than happy to paint up any figure anyone wants painted, so give us a shout an' we can work sumthin' out!

Awesome! They definitely look spiffy, together, and I like the way the blue deck moray hydrofoil looks next to it. :thumbsup

And I definitely need to get my buttocks in gear and joing the club, so I can get me some moth sets. Prolly pick up convention dreadnok figures, 2 moth III sets and probably 3 moth IV sets. :D

Aye, I wish I had a Joe room, too. Though, it'd probably have my tfs and star wars figs in it, too, but when I finally get a house, I hope I have a room to my own that I can use as such.

Only thing I see missing...is either a pistol holster on the tank...or a rifle holster that flows down the back of the bike.

Any ideas on where to grabs one?

I don't know if you have a Tractor Supply Store near you (or any implement type place) But they do carry 1:18 scale horse equipment that includes rifle holsters that should work (sense that is what they use in real life.)

Hooded?

Doesn't CC know anything about motorcycle safety?

He should be wearing his helmet.....but then again I'm not certain how safe dumping your bike while doing 80 wearing an explosive laced helmet would really be.

EMT Viper, "Thank god he was wearing a helmet."

BOOM!

EMT Viper, "Ohhh it was that helmet."

Winter Ops Lowlight. Had only switched out the head, this morning, but when I got in, tonight, I realized that switching pants made a huge difference, as well. Looks much better, now, and the green detailing's not so invasive. :thumbsup

Ultra Magnus

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that I all ready had CP2 Snakes for my winter forces, and they needed a sniper. When I realized that they'd included his weapons, I just had to do it.

Though, I ended up switching the rifle with the one that the Low-Light I chopped for this was holding, since the handle was much better (in spite of the teeth marks), as was the detail (probably was recast), and giving the bipod to the old rifle. I stuck the winter set rifle with the Low-Light in the NOH, who had, previously, been holding another rifle.

All in all, after switching the pants, I'm really satisfied with how he came out. :thumbsup

Ultra Magnus

Thanks. Now, I just need to cobble together a few named Cobras, in order to have an opposing force. I know that I'm either going to snag a Scrap Iron v1 or v2 and another CP2 Snake Eyes and do a simple headswap, and I might try to cobble together a slightly modified Joe Canuck exclusive, Shiver (http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/customs_specific_item.php?kind=figure&id=6797), since I probably won't be trying to track down everything that they used, and I can easily substitute with similar parts.

EDIT: You know, it's funny. I have all these customs floating around in my head, but I never get around to actually get the paint and paint them. Go figure, right? :eyebrow

Still not sold on that name....
