View Full Version : The Cure for Yellowing Parts?

Someone might have found the cure for returning yellow parts to their original color. You soak the offending part in Hydrogen Peroxide 35% in a glass jar, in the sun, after a couple hours you parts will look like near new.

Here is the original post (Thanks to TheTF) :

As always, do it at your own risk.

This is one fascinating read. Anyone with a yellowed Storm Shadow that we could try this on?

Also, someone should forward this to CabanaJack. This is one topic he'd be very VERY interested in.

i have also found out by accident that if you bring it inside and let an 8 year old walk around and shake it all morning it continues to work after you bring it inside

More info on the chemistry behind this.

Looks like this isn't limited to just toy collectors, which is a very good thing.

A few weeks ago, I bought a badly yellowed Storm Shadow for $5 and tried this out myself.

It works! :banana

The 3% H2O2 is like Gijoe071681 stated (SSSLOWWW). But I simply didn't know where to find the higher grade stuff.

higher grade stuff from a chemical company. I've heard that you can get like 6% from a beauty supply store.

Hey I remember this thread. Now anyone know of a container big enough for a snowcat and or skystriker?

I know that there are storage containers that are designed to slide under your bed, and it would be perfect for the skystriker/cat.

Like this:

But I know there are cheaper ones out there without the wheels, we picked up a set several years ago for $10.
