The script already leaked a few hours ago. . .I just finished reading it and it's alright.
SPOILERS:
Baroness re-joins Cobra after being kidnapped and placed in a brain-wave scanner. Duke dies halfway through and Ripcord blames himself (sound familiar?). We see the first appearance of Wild Bill, and LOLOMGWTFBBQ I'm lying my ass off. There is no script and I totally made U look.

It was all a dream..............and we see some REAL GI Joe not movie action scripts with GI JOE slapped on them.

I guess I'm the only one who posts here who liked the GIJoe film. Oh well.
Hopefully any sequel will include the Crimson Twins. The only problem is I have no idea who on earth to Cast in the role/s.

I liked it. It was what it was trying to be. I'm hoping now that Cobra's in the open we'll see more militaristic vehicles from them.

I think in the end we all ENJOYED it but with so much glossed over/changed/ignored/forgotten/whatever, it really just looks like an action movie that was going to be made with a different name and then had GI JOE put on it to be more marketable after a few script changes.

I enjoyed the first film, and while there were things I disliked (Acellorator suits) overall I think it did a good job of adding a fresh spin on Joe and it tossed enough ARAH referances, and hell even 12" and Sigma referances in to not alienate any genre of fan.
As for the film itself, I like to compare it to other adapted franchises...for example...Rise of Cobra was way better than the following films of the Comic / Action figure genre...
-Street Fighter
-X-Men 3
-Spiderman (come on the Power Rangers Goblin was dumb as hell)
-Spiderman 3
-Daredevil
-Ghost Rider (which wasn't all THAT bad)
-Electra
-Hulk
-Batman Forever
-Batman and Robin
-Catwoman
-Masters of the Universe
-Superman III
-Superman IV
-Superman Returns
-Supergirl
-Captain America
-Punisher
-The Punisher
-League of Extraordinary Gentleman
-Mortal Kombat
-Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
Granted their are some pretty bad films on that list... my point is it could have been alot worse.
Imagine if McG had gotten his hands on RoC?
Snake Eyes and Stormshadow would have been hardwired into 8 story high Ninja Robot suits while Cameron Diaz (as Scarlett) swung around the battle in a bikini fighting Rene Russo (as the Bare-n-ass) in a black Teddy to the tune of 'Everybody Wants Some'. While Luke Wilson (as Duke) battled Mathew Perry (dressed as Dr. Claw calling himself Cobra Commander) in a dirt bike Matrix like battle.
Ugh.

C'mon. That would be worth the admission price alone! :eeek Add in Demi Moore because that scene where she meets Cameron on the beach in Charlie's Angels is the only part worth watching, but should be required viewing for every man! I mean wow! That was hot!
It was on tv, and my dad was watching. I would have never seen that scene if I had my way and changed the chanel. Don't judge. Watch (http://www.spike.com/video/charlies-angels-full/2472996). :shifty

I can write a script, here check it out.
Once upon a time there was a joe named Snake Eyes who met his friend and later foe Storm Shadow in the war along with a future ally named Stalker. No, not Heavy Duty, Stalker. They became friends and later met a Joe named Duke who was NOT dating a Euro Trash socialite who was born in New York. GI Joe batles Cobra led by a used card salesman whos frustration with the big man sought to reshape the world. Cobra has Stuns, Hisses and Rages instead of SUVS and GI Joe has VAMPs Maulers and RAMS instead of Sprinters and Power Ranger suits.
The end. Fill in the rest.

It doesn't take a guy on the toilet to have come up with that. GI Joe is full of gimmicks that it doesn't need any thrown in. Stick with the source, or sources if you want to pull something from the cartoon keep it familiar to the fans.

Well we didn't have a pic of a trophey, so I went with the next best thing. :D
And I agree with you BW, why does everyone bash the original story behind everything? I think it is very plausable and a great story.

Sure! Of course it is! Why not have Stalker but have a race change in Ripcord, a thrid tier Joe at best or Heavy Duty who is a Roadblock expy? That is if the sole purpose is to reach out to demographics. A black guy I know who runs a toy store in Milwaukee even cited Superman III as a prime example and he thought it was lame.
Why do two major characters, one who has been with the Joe series since the begining be romantically involved when they never were before and is only exploited once or twice when script creativity could work around it?
Why does ANYONE know who Cobra Commander is, or what his name is?
Ech, I can go on. It was fun but so is collecting well past the point of where your budget and storage room can no longer accomidate the hobby and you have to say enough is enough.

Its just nice that they're going to actually write a "Joe" script instead of grabbing some old sci-fi one and jamming Joes into it.

Tomax and Xamot (http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/485391/will-tamox-and-xomat-rock-the-gi-joe-sequel.jhtml)?! Maybe.
I've got to be honest. Every time I hear someone say they're going to do something "The right way" it comes accross as either "exactly the way it was in the 80's" (which is a bit stangnant imo) or as fanwank (don't get me wrong. A little isn't bad, but I'm paying for something that isn't a nod to an overestablished meme in the fandom. A brand new story). :meh We'll see. I reserved judgement until I saw the first movie. I'll reserve judgement until I see this one.
Also I like the whole sharing wounds deal, but the whole unitards and finishing of each others' sentences aspects have got to go . . . :shifty

I am going to have to disagree with you guys about finishing each other sentances. I think that is one of the coolest parts about them, and gives extra pressure to the person that they are talking to that they are right about whatever they are saying.
Heck married couples have been doing it for eons, so it must work. :D

I deffinatly want them to be in the sequel. I also want the Crimson Guard in some form. Hell, I know I'm going a bit deep, but I want the Drednoks.

It'll be interesting to see what is done with the Twins, especially considering Larry Hama really didn't like them very much. They were kinda cool in the cartoon but that always explaining and exploiting the "one gets hurt, other feels it" got old quick.
